Short circuit
Two wires are contacting each other when they should not be. Your breaker trips fast. Usually caused by damaged cable or a faulty appliance.
A room that's gone dark. A breaker that won't stay reset. We locate the fault and fix it. You get a fixed price before we start.
Verify our NSW Contractors Licence 493243C on the official NSW Trades register.
Electrical fault finding is the technical process of tracing a problem back to its exact source inside your home's wiring system.
Every home runs a network of circuits behind the walls and through the roof space. When something fails in that network, the symptoms appear at the end of the line. A breaker that trips. A power point that stops working. Lights that flicker for no obvious reason.
Fault finding works backwards from those symptoms.
We test each circuit for insulation breakdown and use thermal imaging to detect heat signatures that point to damage you cannot see. Before we touch anything, we confirm the circuit is isolated and safe. Then we work through the board systematically until we locate the exact point of failure.
It is not guesswork. It is a structured diagnostic process carried out to the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules, the Australian standard that governs all residential electrical installation and repair work.
The reason this matters goes beyond inconvenience. NSW Fair Trading confirms that electrical faults and appliances cause 40% of house fires in NSW each year. Most of those fires start with a fault that existed long before anything visible went wrong.
Older Sydney homes carry additional risk. The NSW Government advises that homes built before the 1980s often carry rubber-insulated wiring that has deteriorated over time and may leave conductors exposed inside the walls. You cannot check this yourself. It requires a licensed electrician with the right diagnostic equipment.
Once we find the fault, we repair it and issue you a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW). That certificate is your proof the work meets the required standard and is on record with NSW Fair Trading. We hold Contractors Licence 493243C and Level 2 ASP Licence 6855.
If you ticked more than one, it is worth getting looked at.

The electrical path is broken. Power cannot get through. This is why you can end up with a dead power point and no obvious cause.
Current is leaking somewhere it should not be. This is what causes shocks. Your safety switch should trip when this happens. If it does not, get it looked at quickly.
The hardest one to track down. Works fine when we arrive, then plays up again later. We use thermal imaging to find these even when they seem to have disappeared.

I had a full house rewire done and a bunch of upgrades like downlights, pendant lighting, new powerpoints, ethernet/data cabling, and exterior sensor lights. Sam is very tidy and everything looks and works perfectly. Really easy to deal with and you can tell they take pride in doing things properly. Definitely recommend if you want a quality electrician.”

No. Our call-out and site assessment is free. We inspect the fault on site, explain what we find, and quote the repair before any chargeable work begins. We issue a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) for any notifiable repairs carried out under Contractors Licence 493243C.
Same-day service is available across most Sydney suburbs. For emergency fault situations where you have no power or a potential safety hazard, we aim to be on site within two hours of your call. Ring us directly for urgent jobs and we will confirm availability in your area before you hang up.
We will be straight with you. If we have done a full inspection and cannot reproduce the problem, we tell you exactly what to watch for and leave you our direct number. There is no charge for the inspection itself.
Usually yes. We carry common repair parts in the van, including circuit breakers, RCDs, power point components, and switch fittings. For larger jobs requiring a full switchboard upgrade or new circuit installation, we provide a fixed quote and book a return visit within one to two days. You will know the price before we commit to anything.
A circuit breaker protects your wiring from overload and short circuits. It trips when current exceeds the rated limit. A safety switch (RCD) detects current leaking to earth and cuts the circuit in milliseconds to protect you from electric shock. You need both. If your switchboard has only circuit breakers and no safety switches, you are not protected against shock. Call us to rectify that.
Yes. We need access to your switchboard to test circuits, and access to the affected areas to trace the fault. This may include ceiling space, wall cavities, or outdoor runs. If you cannot be home, a trusted adult must be present throughout the visit to provide access and be available if we need to discuss findings.
